Angel 5500 Cold Press Slow Juicer review

A powered horizontal twin-gear juicer with one standard SUS-304 housing filter, manual reverse, and a maker-recommended 30-minute running interval.

This is the U.S. AG-5500 offer, model SKU AGUS5500AB21, not the 220 V selection or the separate AG-5500SFH box. Manual reverse is not automatic reverse. The included glass cup and two plastic juice-and-pulp cups have no listed volumes.

A useful fit for

Consider the U.S. AG-5500 if you want a horizontal twin-gear juicing path, can feed prepared produce gradually, and accept a manual reverse control and a multi-part cleanup routine.

The main tradeoff

The exact package does not include the separate soft-fruit housing filter; the maker lists cups but no usable capacity, and its product page and manual disagree on assembled size and weight. Measure and weigh the actual unit if counter fit or lifting is a hard limit.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want a powered twin-gear masticating path rather than a centrifugal basket or citrus cone?

Angel identifies the AG-5500 as a powered masticating twin-gear juicer. Its specification is not a measured yield or speed comparison.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is documented pomegranate use important, provided you do not require a measured 32 fl oz vessel?

The manual describes pomegranate use with its standard housing. The exact package includes juice cups but gives no volumes, so a hard 32 fl oz minimum excludes this configuration.

Explore this need in the finder →
Must a juice receiver be included, even if its capacity is not published?

The exact box list includes an Angel glass cup and two plastic juice-and-pulp cups. Their capacities are not stated; a minimum-size requirement remains unconfirmed.

Explore this need in the finder →
Do you need dishwasher-safe removable juicing parts but not an unverified SANI cycle?

The manual allows the twin gears, housing filter and splash guard in a dishwasher. It does not document a high-heat SANI cycle or confirm that every included cup is dishwasher-safe.

Would you rather keep the standard AG-5500 package than require an included soft-fruit housing filter?

The exact AG-5500 package lists only the standard housing filter; the separate SFH offer includes an additional soft-fruit housing. The manual describes that as a separate setup for softer produce.

The U.S. Angel 5500 AG-5500 is a horizontal twin-gear masticating juicer with a standard stainless-steel housing filter, an included glass receiver and two plastic juice-and-pulp cups. Its most useful distinction is not a claimed yield advantage: the maker’s table says the 5500 uses manual reverse, while the 7500 and 8500 use automatic reverse. Consider it if you are comfortable with gradual feeding, deliberate jam clearing and a multi-part cleanup routine.

Identify the exact U.S. configuration

Angel Juicer America’s U.S. page identifies the model as AG-5500, UPC 195893303489 and SKU AGUS5500AB21 for its 110–120 V / 60 Hz selection. The same page also exposes a separate 220 V / 50 Hz option; this review covers the U.S. electrical configuration, not that variant. The separately listed 5500SFH package is another distinction: it includes the extra soft-fruit housing filter, while the AG-5500 box list expressly says that filter is not included.

The 5500 uses two horizontal gears and one standard housing filter. Angel lists a 180-watt motor and 82-rpm gear speed; neither figure is an independent yield, texture, sound or durability test. Its maker's “grinding force” and nutrition comparisons are not treated as measured results.

Manual reverse is a real control difference

The word “automatic” appears in the page’s operation field, but not for jam reversal: the exact specification says “Automatic Reverse: NO,” and the manual’s model table marks the 5500 as manual reverse. When the feed chute is overloaded, the manual describes an automatic stop, then directs the operator to press Reverse for two or three seconds—or until the food clears—and press Start to continue. That is not a second extraction speed, nor does it mean jams cannot occur.

Angel lists automatic reverse on the 7500 and 8500 instead. The 8500 also lists SUS-316 for its gears, housing filter and splash guard; the 5500 page lists SUS-304. These are actual model differences, not proof of different juice output.

Prepare produce and use the standard housing

Fit the twin gears, standard housing filter, clamp and splash guard, then place separate juice and pulp cups at the outlets. Wash and prepare ingredients, feed them gradually at the pace they process, and use the supplied wooden pusher—never force produce or use fingers or a utensil in the chute. Angel’s diagram distinguishes a four-inch rim from a 1.5-inch pipe; this is not a straight opening-width measurement or a promise that whole produce fits.

The exact page names wheatgrass, and the manual documents pomegranate with the standard housing. For daily wheatgrass, though, the manual recommends a separate wider-holed filter that is not included. The package does include a glass juice cup and large and medium plastic juice-and-pulp cups, but none has a stated volume. The 5500 meets an included-receiver need, not a measured minimum such as 32 fluid ounces.

Respect the running and cleanup routine

The manual recommends 30 minutes of running and a couple of minutes to cool after around each 30-minute interval; it does not describe an automatic cutoff. If the overheat sensor stops the motor, separate troubleshooting instructions say to leave power on for 20 minutes so the cooling fan can run. That is a recovery step, not the routine break. A 30-minute finder threshold fits the documented interval, not any predicted batch volume.

The manual permits the twin gears, housing filter and splash guard in a dishwasher, but they still need to be stopped, unplugged and separated. Angel recommends rinsing these metal parts promptly under warm water to limit mineral residue. Dishwasher or high-heat SANI approval for the cups and every accessory is not established; keep the motor base dry.

Do not buy from a tight-fit assumption

The product page lists 19.5 × 7.75 × 10.5 inches and 20.8 pounds; the manual table gives 20 × 7.5 × 11 inches and about 12 kg / 26.45 pounds. The figures conflict, and the manual table does not label its axis order. Measure the actual unit and leave room for feeding, cups and disassembly rather than relying on a hard-fit or lifting claim.

For direct Angel Juicer America or authorized-dealer purchases, its checked policy lists a ten-year limited warranty on the motor base and five years on the housing filter, twin gear and splash guard. Consumables are excluded; the policy is non-transferable and limited to ordinary household use. Check written seller terms.

Who should shortlist it?

Shortlist the AG-5500 if a powered twin-gear route, manual jam clearing, gradual feeding and prompt cleanup suit your routine. The finder can match it for masticating extraction, documented pomegranate use, an included receiver, dishwasher-safe removable juicing parts and a 30-minute session floor. It cannot meet a confirmed 32-ounce vessel minimum, verified SANI cycle, known counter-fit limit, included soft-fruit filter or automatic reverse need. The separate 5500SFH package is the relevant soft-fruit-filter comparison.

For a single-auger alternative with a published 24-ounce cup and dishwasher-safe removable parts, compare the Hamilton Beach 67951. The horizontal twin-gear Tribest Greenstar 5 is another gear-based setup, but its refurbished offer and included processing kit differ. Pick by operating routine and package, not by a family name or maker performance slogan.
