Tribest Greenstar 5 review

Current U.S. horizontal all-stainless twin-gear masticating juicer with a 1.6-inch listed chute, a 40-minute stated session and finish-specific base codes. Manufacturer-refurbished R-code offers are assessed separately.

The active U.S. product page identifies current GS5-2GY-B (Gray) and GS5-2WH-B (White) codes, with a 15-year household-use warranty; its page and matching manual describe the GS5-2 mechanism. Separate refurbished offers use GS5-2GYR-B and GS5-2WHR-B. Those offer-specific R codes carried their own availability, reconditioning, household warranty and final-sale terms at the check date; do not transfer condition or return terms across sale codes.

A useful fit for

Consider it when the 40-minute stated session, all-stainless twin gears and broad included screen/blank setup suit your routine; choose between current base-code and exact R-code refurbished offer terms.

The main tradeoff

Prepare produce and clean the multi-part screen/gear assembly promptly. The manual and product page disagree on weight; refurb R-code sales are final with no returns.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Must the juicer support at least a 40-minute session before the manual rest break?

The Greenstar 5 manual says up to 40 minutes per session, then 10 minutes of rest. This is an operating limit, not a throughput guarantee.

The exact Greenstar 5 refurb box list includes the closed homogenizing blank and breadstick knob; the listing does not include a pasta-making set.

The Tribest Greenstar 5 refurbished listing combines an all-stainless twin-gear juicer with the longest stated continuous session in this five-model Greenstar group: up to 40 minutes before the manual’s rest interval. It includes fine and coarse screens, two homogenizing blanks, a breadstick knob, pitcher and cleaning tools. The trade-off is a substantial assembly-and-cleanup routine, plus an important product-page/manual weight conflict. The pictured white version is a model image, not a view of a particular refurbished unit.

The 40-minute session and 1.6-inch chute are the practical distinctions

Tribest identifies the GS5-2 as a horizontal twin-gear masticating juicer with a 1.6-inch feed opening. Its current U.S. page’s specification table lists 120 rpm at 60 Hz and 100 rpm at 50 Hz; the linked manual repeats those speeds and specifies up to 40 minutes per session, followed by a 10-minute rest. A narrative paragraph elsewhere on the same page says 110 rpm, so the page is internally inconsistent on speed; this review keeps the table/manual figures and does not turn rpm into a performance claim. The 40-minute limit is longer than the 30-minute-then-rest guidance in the older Greenstar Pro, Elite, Gold and Original manuals. It is a maker limit, not a measured throughput promise. The 40-minute instruction can be useful when you make several batches in a single session, but it does not mean the whole preparation and disassembly routine takes 40 minutes or less.

The geared setup is not the same as a fast centrifugal basket or a single vertical auger. You choose a fine screen for ordinary fruit and vegetable juice with less pulp or a coarse screen for more pulp. The manual also describes an open homogenizing blank for foods such as nuts and seeds and a closed blank with the breadstick knob for denser processed mixtures and shaped foods. The current refurbished box list includes both blanks and the breadstick knob, but it does not list a pasta-making set. Do not count an optional accessory shown elsewhere on a product page as part of this refurbished package.

Tribest’s manual names roots, leafy greens, celery and wheatgrass, but gives different setup instructions for them: roots are cut into long thin pieces and fed one at a time; the knob is loosened for produce that backs up or for soft material. It also cautions that very soft fruit such as strawberries or bananas will not juice well through the screen and is better handled by blending or the sorbet route. A screen and twin gears widen the uses; they do not make this a no-prep, whole-produce machine.

Expect a deliberate setup and prompt cleaning

The manual asks you to unplug before assembly, align the locating dots on the two gears, seat them fully, select the right screen or blank, and close the latches before running the motor. The safety hood must be in place; use the supplied tamper rather than fingers or utensils in the chute. That sequence is more involved than dropping fruit into a centrifugal machine. It also gives you more than one working configuration, so the included components are useful only if you expect to change between juice and food-processing tasks.

Tribest recommends immediate cleaning so dried pulp and mineral deposits do not build up. The refurbished set lists a scraper attachment, brush, pitcher, strainer and drip tray. The G5 manual says removable parts are dishwasher-safe except the safety hood; it separately warns never to let water enter the motor body. That is a clear cleaning advantage over models whose older manuals give a hand-wash routine without an explicit dishwasher claim. A dishwasher-safe label does not remove the need to scrape the fine screen promptly, and no dishwasher instruction makes the hood safe for that treatment.

Refurbished terms and exact identity matter

Tribest also lists the current non-refurbished GS5-2GY-B (gray) and GS5-2WH-B (white) models on its U.S. product page. They share the GS5-2 mechanism, manual, 15-year household warranty and listed base specification, but the R-B suffix identifies the separate refurbished sale. The refurbished page describes inspection and reconditioning, makes those sales final with no refund or return, and showed white available but gray unavailable on October 23, 2026; status can change. Keep current and R-coded offer terms distinct when checking a carton or written warranty.

There is a source conflict to resolve if weight affects storage or moving: the current product-page specification says 18 pounds, while the linked GS5-2 manual says 19.4 pounds. The listed 20 × 7 × 13.8-inch body size matches the manual, but these dimensions are not operating clearance. Measure the actual unit and leave room for the pitcher, pulp outlet, chute and your hands. The white official product-page image used here depicts the model and finish; Tribest does not say whether it is a photograph or a render, and it does not document the condition of an individual refurbished machine.

Who should consider it—and what to compare

Consider the Greenstar 5 if you want a heavy-duty horizontal twin-gear approach, a documented 40-minute session, a broad set of included juice/food-processing parts and dishwasher-safe removable parts. Skip it if your main need is a wider chute, a compact setup, minimal assembly, or a supplier-confirmed weight that fits a strict lifting limit. The Greenstar Elite has a narrower 1.5-inch chute and a 12-year refurb warranty; the Pro and Gold keep a 1.6-inch chute, but their package, motor claims and operating instructions differ. The Original has the simplest listed included processing kit, while its age makes the exact dimensions and weight disagreement particularly worth checking.

This assessment follows Tribest’s Greenstar 5 refurbished listing and linked manual. It is source-based, not a hands-on test: no yield, pulp dryness, sound, time-to-clean or durability result was measured. Before ordering, recheck availability, refurbished sale terms and the contents of the exact offer.
