Shared-base juicer and blender choices
Hamilton Beach 67970 vs 67870 vs Breville BJB815: cup, jug and attachments
A juicer-blender combination can save a vessel transfer, but the details decide whether it replaces two countertop appliances or simply adds pieces to store. Compare Hamilton Beach's exact 67970 with Breville's BJB815 Bluicer Pro and Hamilton Beach's dedicated 67870 by the included receiver, second function and configuration change—not just by their shared centrifugal label.
Three different answers to “juice and blend”
| Exact model | Juicing setup | Blending function | Vessel and space | Practical boundary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hamilton Beach 67970 | 3-inch chute; two speeds plus pulse; side pulp bin | Personal blender jar, blade/collar and travel lid on the same base | 20 oz jar; body 14.81 H × 7.54 W × 14 D in | Use the jar below the juice spout, then reconfigure the base to blend. No simultaneous modes or larger supplied batch pitcher. |
| Breville BJB815 3X Bluicer Pro | Centrifugal basket; 3.5-inch chute; ten-setting juicing dial | Separate blender setup with five documented programs | 50 fl oz jug; body 15.6 W × 9.3 D × 17.7 H in | Its larger jug can collect juice and become the blender vessel after reassembly. Auto Clean applies to the blender jug, not the juicer mesh. |
| Hamilton Beach 67870 | 3-inch chute; two speeds; side pulp bin | No documented blender mode | 16 fl oz supplied juice cup; separate 80 fl oz pulp bin | Choose it for a dedicated juicer and cup, not for blending. The cup and pulp-bin volumes describe different things. |
Decide whether a personal cup or batch vessel fits
The 67970's supplied 20-ounce blender jar is the small, integrated option. Hamilton Beach's manual permits placing that jar below the juice spout, then converting it to a blender jar. A 20-ounce MAX mark is a vessel limit, not a promise that any produce load yields that volume. It can suit a one-person drink routine, but a strict 32-ounce juice receiver minimum rejects it. The BJB815 is the larger alternative: its maker lists a 50-ounce jug and a separately assembled blender configuration. That size means fewer vessel fills for some uses, not an extraction-yield result.
Do not substitute pulp storage for a juice jug. On the 67870, the included juice cup is 16 ounces while the external pulp bin is listed at 80 ounces. The 67970 calls its external pulp bin large but gives no volume. Neither appliance earns a larger-juice-batch match from its pulp collector.
Compare controls and the amount of switching you accept
Hamilton Beach documents LO, HI and pulse on the 67970, with high recommended for hard produce and low or pulse for softer ingredients. The BJB815 adds a ten-setting dial and named blender programs. These are differences in documented control range; they do not establish which machine extracts more or runs more quietly. Both hybrid approaches require a change from extractor parts to blender parts. If you only want juice, a dedicated machine avoids keeping a blender blade, jar collar, travel lid and second assembly in the cycle.
Counter fit and sink routine still matter
The 67970 and BJB815 body measurements differ in orientation and height. Compare all three listed dimensions with your counter and overhead space, then leave room for the pusher, side pulp container, juice jar and assembly work. Manufacturer body measurements do not include the working clearance you personally need. Both mesh-basket systems need prompt brushing; dishwasher-safe removable parts do not mean the motor base can be immersed or that a high-heat SANI cycle is allowed. The BJB815's blender Auto Clean program is not a substitute for cleaning its strainer basket, and the 67970's Easy Sweep tool is not an automatic wash.
The 67970 is the better-shaped answer when you want juicing and a small personal blend on one base. The BJB815 fits a larger blender-vessel requirement and offers more documented settings, at a different footprint. The 67870 is the simpler comparison when the second function is unnecessary. Read each exact model's 67970, BJB815 and 67870 assessment; no shared brand name makes their jars, attachments or parts interchangeable.
