The exact BJC-550 U.S. product page and booklet document a centrifugal juice-extractor assembly plus a separate 16-ounce personal blender cup on one base. The manual says High for juicing, Low/High/Pulse for blending, and a glass under the juice spout; it does not publish juice-pitcher or pulp-bin capacity.

A useful fit for

A fit for someone comparing a specific older offer who wants both centrifugal juice extraction and a small blender cup with a flip lid, and does not require a rated juice pitcher.

The main tradeoff

The page is marked discontinued and out of stock. Juice goes into a glass under the spout rather than a supplied jug; the 16-ounce blender cup is for blending, not juicing. Switching between attachments and cleaning the sharp mesh and blade remain part of the routine.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you want a centrifugal juicer and blender sharing one compact motor base?

The BJC-550 has a separate extractor attachment and a blender cup on the same base. They use different setups and do not run simultaneously.

Do you need a compact listed body depth of no more than nine inches?

The Cuisinart BJC-550 is an earlier compact appliance that combines a centrifugal juice extractor with a personal blender cup. Its two uses are easy to confuse if you look only at the word “combo”: the juicer sends liquid through a front spout into a glass, while the blender uses a separate 16-ounce cup with a flip lid. To use the other function, you change the attachment on the same base. This is a small-batch hybrid for someone who wants both fresh juice and a portable blended drink, not a machine that runs both jobs together.

The blender's settings are not juicing speeds

The 450-watt figure is Cuisinart's peak motor rating, not a measured continuous output or a guarantee of extraction. The rotary control provides Low, High, and Pulse for blending, but the instruction booklet says to select High when operating the juice extractor. It describes the mesh cutting basket, cover and locking clamps, food pusher, side pulp container, and flow spout. The manual says produce wider than two inches should be cut, and it advises putting leafy greens in leaf-end first without packing the tube too full. It does not publish a measured feed-tube width, so the two-inch prep instruction should not be turned into a chute-diameter claim.

For blending, you attach the blade assembly to the cup, turn the cup upside down and lock it onto the base. The manual describes Low, High and Pulse, with blending automatically stopping after one minute; to continue, return the dial to Stop and select a speed again. The 16-ounce cup can be capped for travel or storage. That is a useful single-serving format, but it is small compared with a family-size blender jar. Cuisinart warns against blending hot liquids or carbonated drinks in the cup, and the booklet does not establish the cup as a juice pitcher.

Juice goes to a glass, not the travel cup

The exact product page says the extractor makes 8 to 16 ounces of juice, but that language is a maker-stated output range, not an independent yield measurement. More importantly for fit, the manual directs the owner to set a glass beneath the front spout. It gives no supplied juice-pitcher capacity, and the 16-ounce blending cup is a different vessel for a different mode. If a dedicated juice jug of 32 ounces or more is essential, the BJC-550 does not meet that condition. If you like pouring straight into a glass and use the blender cup for a separate smoothie, its layout is more relevant than a larger extractor jug.

Cuisinart lists the body at 8.84 inches long, 6.44 inches wide, and 12.44 inches high. Treat the long dimension as a starting point for counter depth and allow extra room to unlock the cover, lift the blender cup, and handle the pulp container. The page's weight field is simply “4.71,” without a unit, so a precise lifting weight is unknown. The finish is labeled Stainless Steel, but that is not enough evidence to describe the entire housing as stainless steel.

Expect a cleanup after either setup

The manuals make the split between modes practical, but also mean that cleanup involves the parts for the function used. Cuisinart says the removable parts are top-rack dishwasher-safe; the motor base must be wiped with a damp cloth and kept out of water and the dishwasher. The juicing mesh basket has sharp edges and should be rinsed soon after use, while the blender blade assembly must be handled carefully. A high speed of juice work can leave pulp on the fine screen; the troubleshooting section says excess pulp can slow juice flow and directs the user to stop and clean the basket. An overload trip requires at least a 15-minute unplugged cool-down. These steps are ordinary ownership constraints, not proof of a measured cleanup time or motor life.

Compare the function you actually want

The BJC-550 is the Cuisinart choice here if you want a blender and a produce juicer sharing one compact base. It does not offer the citrus reamer found on the CJE-2000, whose supplied juice container is listed at 28 ounces. The CJE-2000 therefore suits the person who wants citrus and centrifugal produce extraction; the BJC-550 suits the person who wants centrifugal extraction plus a small blend-to-go cup. If you only need a large-volume juicer, a dedicated centrifugal model with a published pitcher capacity is a clearer fit than this hybrid. If you only blend, a personal blender removes the juicing screen and pulp-container parts you would otherwise store and clean.

Cuisinart marks the BJC-550 discontinued and out of stock. For an older listing, verify the BJC-550 code and that it includes the cup, blade assembly, flip lid, full juicer assembly, pusher, and pulp container; accessory fit should not be inferred from another Cuisinart compact blender. The page advertises a limited three-year warranty, but coverage for a secondhand or resale unit is not assumed. Include earlier models in the finder only when you are considering a particular offer. A requirement for both centrifugal extraction and an integrated blender selects the documented combo; a 16-ounce minimum blender-vessel choice fits the included cup, while a 17-ounce minimum does not. A 32-ounce juice-jug minimum excludes it because the manual shows a glass-under-spout receiver rather than a rated jug.

For the exact details, see Cuisinart's BJC-550 page, its instruction-and-recipe booklet, and the separate quick reference. No personal ownership or extraction test is implied.
