Hamilton Beach model comparison
Hamilton Beach 67840 vs 67850 vs 67870: pitcher and counter fit
The Hamilton Beach 67840, 67850 and 67870 all use a centrifugal basket and two speeds, but they are not interchangeable packages. The earlier 67840 has a 30-ounce pitcher and a particularly narrow, deep listed body; the 67850 lists a larger lidded pitcher and a much wider body; the 67870 comes with a 16-ounce cup. Choose by receiver, counter shape and exact offer—not by the shared brand or chute label.

Read the receiver and footprint together
The 67840 is the slim-width choice only if depth is not your constraint: Hamilton Beach lists it at 7.92 inches wide but 17.07 inches deep. That body measurement is not the entire work area. Leave space for its external pulp container, receiver below the outlet, feed chute, pusher, cord and access for cleaning. Its 30-ounce pitcher is between the 67850 and 67870 listed receiver capacities, but it is not evidence of batch yield. The 67850’s 40-ounce lidded pitcher is the largest of these three documented receivers; it also has the widest listed body at 14.5 inches. The 67870’s 16-ounce cup keeps the supplied vessel smaller, while its body width and depth fall between the other two models’ listings.
Measure the counter and cabinet yourself, and compare the full setup rather than assuming a narrow body has a small footprint. If the pitcher must hold a minimum volume, use its listed capacity as a vessel limit, not a promise that one juicing session will fill it. A 30-ounce receiver does not meet a 32-ounce minimum; a 40-ounce receiver does, subject to the actual listing and package.
Similar controls do not erase manual differences
Each configuration has two speeds, but follow the model’s own chart and care instructions. The 67840’s CJ25 guide uses HI/LO/OFF and assigns firm produce to HI and softer produce and leafy greens to LO. It advises peeling some fruits for flavor, pitting stone fruits, feeding slowly and using the pusher. The larger 3-inch opening can reduce cutting for some produce but does not make every ingredient safe or suitable to feed whole. Do not assume the 67850 or 67870 has the same accessories, pitcher, motor rating or footprint because the controls sound similar.
All three are centrifugal rather than auger-style machines. They require handling a rotating micro-mesh basket and collecting pulp separately. The 67840 and 67850 guides describe dishwasher-safe removable parts with an explicit SANI-cycle restriction; the motor base must stay out of the dishwasher and water. The mesh still benefits from prompt brushing before pulp dries. Check each exact guide for cleaning particulars, especially if you are buying an older 67840 or a used unit missing its original container or cleaning tool.
What the published numbers do not tell you
Motor wattage is not a comparative extraction test. Pitcher size does not predict juice yield. A low speed is not a quiet-mode claim, and the manuals do not establish measured sound levels. The 67840’s manual specifies a 15-minute cool-down only after an overheated motor trips its overload protection; it does not publish a routine continuous-run limit. If any of those unknowns is an essential condition, do not fill in the gap from a neighboring model.
The 67840 is useful to compare when an exact earlier U.S. offer or existing unit is the subject. Its product page says no longer available, so do not treat it as a current recommendation. For a more generous supplied receiver, compare the 67850; for a smaller juice cup, compare the 67870. If none fits your counter or cleanup routine, move to a different mechanism or exact current-reference model rather than treating this three-model family as the whole market.
These are published specifications and manual instructions, not comparative testing. See the exact 67840, 67850 and 67870 reviews before relying on a seller’s model description.
